Chinese Drywall Inspection

Coastal home inspection offers an in-depth inspection of Chinese drywall installations. The Chinese drywall era is for homes built OR remodeled during 2001-2007.

Physical Evidence of Chinese Drywall

-“Made in China” is located on the manufacturer’s label
-Chinese characters (alphabet)
-Known Chinese manufacturer’s markings or label

CPSC has received about 4,051 reports from residents in 44 States, the District of Columbia, American Samoa, and Puerto Rico, who believe their health symptoms or the corrosion of certain metal components in their homes are related to the problem drywall. State and local authorities have also received similar reports.

Homeowners report corrosion or blackening of metal in or on electrical fixtures, appliances, plumbing, and air conditioner coils. Air conditioner failure is greatly accelerated. Consumers largely report that their homes were built from 2006 to 2007 when an unprecedented increase in new construction occurred in part due to the hurricanes of 2004 and 2005.
